Yahoo launches its mobile search service oneSearch in India

Yahoo has introduced its popular mobile search service, Yahoo oneSearch beta, to consumers in India. According to Yahoo, oneSearch is designed to make finding information on mobile phones faster by providing relevant results right on the first page such as news headlines, images, weather, financial updates and easy navigation to other websites.

“Yahoo oneSearch is designed specifically for the mobile phone. It understands what busy consumers are looking for when they are on the move and brings up relevant answers in the first screen,” says David Ko, vice president and general manager, Connected Life Asia, Yahoo.

Yahoo oneSearch has advertising built into the experience, enabling advertisers to reach consumers on their mobile devices across major mobile operators. This further extends the reach of Yahoo’s advertising services to the mobile environment, the company has said. Consumers will be able to click on an ad to go to the advertisers’ mobile Web site or a landing page to get additional information about the advertisers’ offerings, including the ability to call the advertiser.

The beta version of oneSearch can be accessed in India through Yahoo’s mobile website (in.m.yahoo.com), on any mobile phone with a browser and internet connection. Yahoo oneSearch was first launched in US in March 2007.
